Legendary actor Sultan Rahi, who showed the essence of acting in hundreds of films including ‘Mola Jutt’, passed away 25 years ago.
Sultan Rahi, the Sultan of Punjabi films, opened his eyes in the Indian city of Saharan in 1938 and after the partition of India he moved to Pakistan. Sultan Rahi started his film career in 1971, during which the success of the Punjabi film Basheera made him a superstar.
The duo of Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi guaranteed the success of the film and their film ‘Mula Jutt’ raised the flag of success at the box office.
Sultan Rahi is also honored that on August 12, 1981, his five films Sher Khan, Zalm Da Badla, Athra Patar, Chen Wariam and Sala Sahib were released on the same day, which set a record of success.
Sultan Rahi’s name was also included in the Guinness Book of World Records for showing the essence of acting in more than 700 Urdu and Punjabi films and he was also awarded more than 150 film awards.
The duo of Sultan Rahi and Anjuman captivated the hearts of moviegoers. Other popular action heroines of the movie include Asiya, Saima, Gauri, Neeli and Babra Sharif.
Sultan of Art was shot dead by unknown robbers near Gujranwala on January 9, 1996. At the time of his death, 54 films of Sultan Rahi were being made which is a world record.
