A 20-member national squad has been announced for the series against South Africa.
Chief selector Muhammad Waseem announced the Pakistan squad for the home series against South Africa and said on the occasion that he was happy that a large team was visiting Pakistan.
The former Test cricketer said that Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah have been dropped from the national team for the series against South Africa due to fitness issues while Shaun Masood, Haris Sohail and Muhammad Abbas have not been included in the squad.
He said that Sohail Khan is part of the plan but at the moment he is not getting a place in the team while fast bowler Hassan Ali has done a good job and has been included in the team.
He said that Saud Shakeel has succeeded in making a place in the team by giving performances at every level.
National squad
Babar Azam will lead the national team while other players include Muhammad Rizwan, Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Fahim Ashraf, Yasir Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abdullah Shafiq, Agha Suleiman, Saud Shakeel. Kamran Ghulam, Sajid Khan, Tabish Khan, Haris Rauf, M Nawaz, Noman Ali and Hassan Ali.
The Test series between Pakistan and South Africa starts in Karachi on January 26.
