Though Sidhu himself has told that General Qamar Javed Bajwa has promised him that ‘Kartarpur Corridor’ will be opened for Sikh pilgrims if Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday is celebrated next year.
What if Pakistan opens ‘Kartarpur Corridor’?
For Sikhs, Gurdwara Kartarpur is very important. Here is the founder and spiritual predecessor of Sikh religion and the tomb and sympathy of Baba Guru Nanak, and it is very close to the Indian border. Baba Guru Nanak spent the last eighteen years in his life.
Generally, when Sikh pilgrimage arrives in Pakistan, they are not permitted to make Gurdwara rituals. It has been seen that Sikhs cross the border.
Sikh organizations have been demanding that from the Indian border, Gurdwara must be put on top of Kartarpur and make a way where Sikh Yatri comes for attendance and return on that day.
For this purpose, there is a need to build a bridge on River Ravi, after which Sikh pilgrims will not be able to attend visa for Gurdwara in Kartarpur. They will be able to come to Rawalpindi only.
