Alice Wells, Deputy Secretary of America’s South and Central Asia Affairs, says his country welcomes the desire of peace with India and the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Speaking to the media at the Foreign Press Center in Washington, talking to Pakistan, he said that Pakistan has a major role in maintaining stability in Afghanistan.
Alice Wells said, “We have urged Pakistan to take more steps against the Taliban, either to prepare them for talks or push them into Afghanistan and not to secure them.”
He further added that the United States welcomes the statement of the new Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan that he wants peace on both sides of Pakistan.
Remember that regarding the foreign relations while addressing the nation, Imran Khan said that relations with all neighboring countries would improve because Pakistan needed peace.
Alice Wells said that the United States wants to come together with the new government in Pakistan.
“We have already told Pakistan that terrorists in Pakistan are safe places of the proxy group. It is time to find a solution to the problem through negotiation and Pakistan should now support that message. ”
The Deputy Secretary of South and Central Asia also said that in the strategy for President Trump’s South Asia, India has a very important role in peace in Afghanistan.
He said, “The most important thing in this strategy is that India should play role in Afghanistan and it can do it.”
